The boys from Brooklyn are back with their (now annual) watch fair event in the heart of San Francisco: Wind^Up. Using the same location as last year, Zach, Blake, and the rest of the Worn & Wound crew managed to assemble 30+ plus watch brands to show their novelties and in some cases new watches being introduced for the first time at the fair.

Every year for the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of attending Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach to see and photograph Bugatti’s latest super car along with a matching watch or two from long time partner Parmigiani Fleurier.

Unlike last year when Bugatti unveiled the Chiron, a brand new car with new chassis and more aggressive design as a successor to its highly successful and fast Veyron, this year Bugatti unveiled the Divo which it claims is inspired from its years creating coach building models in the 1920s and early 1930s.

One of the things Topper has done regularly over the years is to host various regular events. The last one I attended was a Reddit r/Watches subreddit meetup focusing on the 2018 Seiko novelties. While Topper carries Seiko’s more luxurious sister brand Grand Seiko, the event this time was focused on the affordable but widely regarded as some of the best entry-level watches.

One of the things that the Worn & Wound crew do to keep their audience engaged and to introduce the many different indie brands they cover to a wider audience is an annual watch fair. Using the moniker Wind^Up, the fair is a open to all. It's a no-tie affair, easy to attend event, that they have done in the past at New York's Chelsea Market, attracting over 10,000 attendees during one weekend. This time the gang decided to also bring the goodness to the west coast, in their first Wind^Up outside of their home base.

Last week I took part of an interesting watch event in San Francisco at the Swatch flagship store: Tourbillon. It was a wine and watch pairing event! What you ask? How does one pair a wine with a watch? Seems comical. Correct. The point here is less about pairing drinks but rather logical pairing. Let me describe what transpired and explain the rational for such pairing.

Bugatti makes the fastest production cars in the world. The Veyron is sold out and has been "top dog" in production car performance for the past 10 years. The long awaited follow up to the Veyron was introduced in 2016. It’s named Chiron. And along with the impressive stats and refinements in the Chiron, Bugatti maintains the relationship with Parmigiani Fleurier, even though the formula of attaching a haute horology timepiece to a watch does not automatically translate into better sales for either brands.
