When novice watch enthusiast first get enamored by the watch collecting bug, they search and search for the first best watch to acquire, or the second one, if they already have a nice watch. The following models are often suggested by watch connoisseurs: Omega’s Speedmaster moon watch, Grand Seiko Spring Drive “snowflake”, and the Rolex’s Explorer II.
At least for me these are the watches that were most often recommended in my own searches and the many discussions I had with seasoned collectors as I started contemplating acquiring another good watch almost 10 years ago.
